Hello Horse Feathers readers!
May is usually the month to start seeing the rattlesnakes but we have been seeing many already
this year. Please keep an open eye out in your area and out on the trail. If you encounter a
rattlesnake, the way you act will likely determine the experience you will have. “Rattlesnakes fear
humans and avoid us whenever possible.” Respecting the snake, and giving it plenty of space, are the keys to avoiding problems. If you encounter a rattlesnake; remain calm, do not panic. Stay at least 5 feet away and then alert the equestrian manager to its location or just leave it alone if it’s not in a busy area, and it will move on. Also, please watch where you step, watch where you place your hands (under a hay tarp) and where you sit down. Approaching the snake will ultimately lead to a negative interaction.
The Equestrian Advisory Committee has positions open, their purpose is to discuss, evaluate and recommend general maintenance of the equestrian facilities, activities; fee structures; and policies related to the equestrian facilities. The EAC meets the first Tuesday of the month. Please contact the equestrian office if you are interested in a position 760-789-3407, we look forward to hearing from you.

Rule of the month: No Parking between the barns. Do not block access between barns or corrals.
