SDCEA Recreation Manager Amy Holsapple-Lueck shares how her love for her children and passion for her work go hand in hand.

All the mothers deeply inspire us here at SDCEA. And this Mother's Day, we honor moms like Amy Holsapple-Lueck. Amy has worked with the association for almost 27 years and has been the Recreation Manager for seven. With two daughters of her own and working with children in the community on a daily basis, she uses her love for children to lead and shape younger generations.

Amy's passion for working with children has been a guiding force throughout her life. She has always found joy in nurturing young minds and creating memorable experiences. This innate love for children seamlessly blended into her role as a mother. Her daughters, ages 6 and 7, are actively engaged in her work, actively participating in the rec program and assisting her in setting up for community events. Amy says, "They live in Ramona Oaks Park as much as I do." For Amy, having her girls involved in her job not only sets an example of hard work and dedication but is an opportunity to bond and share experiences.

What Amy cherishes most about motherhood is having two little best friends at home, along with a very engaged and committed husband, Joey. "When I'm sad, they hug me and tell me how much they love me. I love cuddling up with them and watching a movie after a long, stressful day." However, Amy also acknowledges that motherhood comes with its challenges. Patience, in particular, is something she continually strives to maintain. Amy shares, "Because my girls are with me all the time, I don't really have that quiet time, so I sometimes struggle to find that patience at home that I have at work."

Amy attributes much of her strength as a mother to her own mom, who was always very active and involved with Amy and her siblings' activities. Both Amy's parents taught her the importance of giving back to the community, which she continues to do, taking an active role in her daughters' extracurriculars. After Amy's father passed away when she was a teen, witnessing her mother's strength as she navigated the family's loss with a child in college and two in high school was an inspiration to Amy. Through her mother's unwavering support and guidance, Amy learned the true meaning of resilience.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, we take a moment to honor extraordinary mothers like Amy, whose love and dedication are an inspiration. May her story serve as a reminder of the profound impact a mother's love can have on shaping lives and building futures filled with hope and possibility.
