We are currentling seeking to fill open positions on the Fire Safety Committee - which was established to ensure that fire-safe best practices are implemented by the Association and its members.
If you are interested in serving on the Fire Safety Committee or any others, complete the form below and attach your resume. If preferred, you hand-deliver your completed Committee Volunteer Request form and your printed resume to the Administration Office by 3 pm on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026. If you have additoinal questions, please contact execsec@sdcea.net or call 760-789-3788 x5000.
All submissions must be received by 3 pm on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026.
Committees will be appointed at the Board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Our Committees
Budget Development
The Budget Development Committee shall review the annual budget prepared by staff for the ensuing year. The Committee, General Manager and Director of Financial Operations will meet with each department manager over a four-to-five-day period the first week of September. The Committee, General Manager and Director of Financial Operations will meet again to reivew and analyze budget assumptions and to formulate a recommendation to the Board. The Committee attends the Board's budget workshop scheduled the same day as the September board meeting. The Committee attends the Associations public Budget Workshop scheduled the 1st Tuesday in October.
These members are appointed annually in June.

Community Relations
The Community Relations Committee (CRC) conducts hearings for members as required by the Associations's governing documents and Californai Civil Code. The enforcement and appeal procedures are provided as Exhibit 1 of the CRC Charter.
These members are appointed annually in February.

Environmental Control
Pursuant to Article IV, Section 3 of the CC&R's, the Environmental Control Committee members shall consider and act upon any and all proposals or plans submitted to it pursuant to the terms hereof, to insure that any improvements constructed on properties by anyone conform to plans approved by the Environmental Control Committee Rules, and to perform other duties imposed by the Declaration.
The committee from time to time, and in its sole and absolute discretion, adopt, amend and repeal, by majority vote or written consent, rules and regulations, referred to as the Environmental Control Committee.
These members are appointed every three years.

Equestrian Advisory
The Equestrian Committee will discuss, evaluate and formulate recommendations to the Equestrian Manager and the Board regarding the general maintenance level and aesthetics of the equestrian facilities; additions, deletions, and changes to the physical facilities; events and activities that will take place at the facilities; methods to promote the facilities and activities; fee structures; and policies related to the equestrian facilities.
These members are appointed annually in February.

Fire Safety
The Fire Safety Committee is established to ensure that fire-safe best practices are implemented by the Association and its members. The committee's primary objectives are as follows:
a. To develop, implement, and maintain fire safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
b. To identify and assess fire hazards within the Association.
c. To educate stakeholders on fire safety measures and evacuation procedures.
d. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fire safety measures.
e. To make recommendations for improvements and to recommend corrective actions to mitigate fire risks.
f. To ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal fire safety regulations and codes.
g. To explore the opportunity of becoming a California Firewise Community (Firewise).
All members shall be appointed annually by the Board at is February meeting.

Nominating
The Nominating Committee shall consider and nominate as many candidates as possible for election to the Board of Directors who possess reasonable qualifications to serve on the Board. The Committee will meet following the close of the nomination period to review all candidates requesting to run for the Board. The Committee will provide recommendations to the Board at the January meeting.

San Vicente Valley News Editorial Advisory
The San Vicente Valley News Editorial Advisory Committee shall be responsible for ensuring that the San Vicente Valley News (SVVN) is balanced and conforms to the editorial policy, journalistic quality and ethical advertising principles. The focus of the SVVN will be on local activities and issues of interest to SDCEA and the surrounding community.
