Hummingbird Coffee Hut Movie Nights

The Hummingbird Coffee Hut hosts outdoor movie nights for all ages.

Hummingbird Coffee Hut, located at 23658 San Vicente Road, hosts movie nights every Friday at 8 pm from June 7 through October 25. The movies are displayed on an inflatable screen next to the shop.

The lineup of movies moving forward includes Moana, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Jurassic Park, The Secret Life of Pets, Lego Movie, Toy Story, Rango, The Incredibles, Raya and the Last Dragon, Rio, Lilo and Stitch, Despicable Me, How to Train Your Dragon, Trolls, Hotel Transylvania and James and the Giant Peach. They also have a popcorn machine on site. They recommend bringing your own chair and blanket to the movie night, as chairs are not provided.

The shop also has a book exchange where customers can drop off a book and take one to read, as well as 3D-printed items for sale, such as dragons, gadgets, and ear pod case holders. There are games for kids inside the café, and chalk is available if they would like to draw on the big rocks outside the hut. In addition, they have a community board where customers can leave business cards to promote their businesses. In July, they will be starting customer appreciation, choosing one customer a month to highlight their favorite drink and business. On July 26, when they are showing Jurassic Park, the coffee hut will be doing a raffle to give away a 3D-printed baby dragon.

The coffee hut is open Monday through Friday from 5 am to 2 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 6 am to 2 pm. It is also open during movie night, serving its regular menu of drinks and food, including specialty coffee, tea, milk, juice, baked goods such as cookies and pastries, empanadas, and breakfast sandwiches.

Hummingbird Coffee Hut has been open since May 29, 2023. Owner Esther Elmasian wanted to kick off movie nights so the community could have something fun to do with their kids. “It was all her,” said barista Ronna Schacht, “to bring people together.” If you’re looking for a family-friendly Friday night activity, come out to Hummingbird Coffee Hut to enjoy a movie and some tasty treats.
