The San Diego Country Estates Association (SDCEA) Equestrian Committee is hosting an Evacuation & Emergency Preparedness Clinic on Saturday, September 7, from 9 – 11 am at the Rotunda at the International Equestrian Center. Join experts from SDCART, the County of San Diego, and other organizations as they discuss evacuation planning for horses, trailer safety, and emergency response.

Members of the SDCEA Equestrian Committee have organized this clinic to help you learn from professionals about evacuation and emergency preparedness.

Ramona West End Fire Safe Council: Works to enhance community wildfire preparedness and safety by promoting fire prevention strategies, conducting educational outreach, organizing community events, and collaborating with local agencies to reduce fire risks and improve emergency response capabilities in the Ramona area.

Topics covered will include:

  • The importance of planning for your horses
  • Shelter-in-place procedures
  • Temporary Evacuation Point details in case of evacuation
  • Best practices for evacuating horses
  • Ensuring your trailer is connected correctly
  • Inspecting your trailer for safety and readiness
  • Handling horses that are difficult to load

DJ Gove will also share information on how to assist others in evacuations and discuss personal liability concerns.
