Jose Monzon: March’s Employee of the Month

From lush lawns to blooming gardens, Jose Monzon proves that a bit of luck and a lot of skill make all the difference.

We are delighted to celebrate Jose Monzon for his hard work and dedication to the San Diego Country Estates Association. With the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day this month followed by the first day of Spring a few days later, it’s the perfect time to honor him and his green thumb.

Monzon was hired on May 19, 2023, and performs landscape maintenance in the Open Space department. He is responsible for all the areas at the clubhouse, lodge, pool, tennis courts, and the new San Vicente Park. He is also responsible for the club corrals across the street from the clubhouse and Georgia’s Garden at the golf practice area.

Monzon has an excellent eye for maintaining SDCEA’s plant material. All these garden areas are recently planted, and he keeps a close eye on them. This is key to their success in becoming established.

His lead, Nancy Zadrozny, SDCEA Landscape and Open Space Manager, says that Monzon not only maintains the cleanliness of our areas, but his knowledge of plants and proper pruning techniques has brought a higher level of aesthetics to our garden spaces. He has been involved in most of our planting of new material, and his knowledge of proper planting ensures a high success rate in our newly planted areas. He is very detailed and enjoys making the garden spaces attractive. His daily oversight of all areas ensures they are visually appealing and healthy.

When Monzon isn’t working at the SDCEA, he enjoys time with his family here in Ramona and visits family regularly in Mexico.

Monzon’s commitment to keeping the SDCEA beautiful is truly inspiring, and we are lucky to have him on our team. Congratulations, Jose Monzon, on being named Employee of the Month for March!
