St. Patrick's Couples Tournament: When Green Feels Like Gold!

The St. Patrick's Day Couples Tournament brought the community together, reminding us that when we play as a team and celebrate together, every day can be a lucky one!

Last weekend, 28 San Vicente Golf Clubs players gathered for a special St. Patrick's Day Couples Tournament. Dressed in their lucky green—shirts, slacks, shorts, and hats—they brought plenty of smiles to celebrate a day when green truly felt like gold!

The tournament was played in a fun format called "Step Aside Scramble." In this style, each team chose their best shot, and that player then “stepped aside” while the other three took the next shot. This process continued until the ball was in the hole, making for an exciting and fast-paced game.

Teams included:

  • Jim Ringnell, Angela Rios, Robert Vass, Lynda Damato
  • John & Toni Massery, Gerald & Annette Schwipper
  • Hugh Blackwood, Marcy Aubert, Dan & Kathleen Kankelberg
  • Blane & Kelsey Clements, Sam & Amy Sailors
  • Kevin McNees, Catherine Knowles, Chico & Janet Flores
  • James & Corinne Hill, Tim Malinoski, Tamra Kelly
  • Rob & Penny Fowler, Raymon Johnson, Jerril Biddle

After an exhilarating round on the green, players gathered for a festive lunch in the Par Lounge. The St. Patrick’s Special menu featured a classic Reuben sandwich, a choice of sides, and a refreshing drink—or the option to order from the regular menu.

The fun continued as Matt Brumbaugh announced the winners! Each winning player received a lucky $21 gift card from the golf club. The winning team of the day was:

Jim Hill, Corinne Hill, Tim Malinoski, and Tamra Kelly—who collectively hit an impressive eight birdies! Their secret to success? “Teamwork!”

A special shoutout goes to the youngest team on the course; everyone proudly “fore-ever 21” (wink, wink)! It was proof that golf is a game for all ages.

Overall, it was a gorgeous day to play golf, and the experience was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.
