Stylish, Serene, and Ready for Summer: May Home of the Month

Tiffany Pressler • May 23, 2025

This month’s featured home is a stunning two-story retreat that blends comfort, elegance, and outdoor living. With summer just around the corner, this property stands out for its spacious layout and inviting backyard oasis, complete with a sparkling pool.

Homeowners, Michael and Nim Miranda, love their home and neighborhood. Michael moved into the house in 2014, and Nim joined him in 2018. The couple welcomed a baby boy this January. Nim was the SDCEA Executive Assistant but is currently training her replacement.

The 3,787 square-foot home sits on half an acre and has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. One of Nim’s favorite parts of the home is the open concept kitchen. They spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking, eating, and hanging out. The master bedroom is upstairs, and the home is equipped with all hard wood floors.

The backyard is a true retreat, featuring a pool and outdoor barbecue. The Mirandas live in a cul-de-sac and look forward to inviting their neighbors over for outdoor activities this summer. Every year, they have ping pong tournaments on Halloween and Christmas. Nim says it’s really fun with the neighbors when they hang out and have potlucks. “The neighbors are really awesome,” says Nim. “I can’t wait for summertime, to hang out with friends and family at the pool.”

At the end of 2024 and early 2025, they did a massive landscape upgrade to the front and back yard. They transitioned to a lower maintenance landscape that includes DG, gravel, drought-tolerant plants, and turf. They also have a lot of citrus and palm trees, roses, and birds of paradise. The property previously had a lot of grass, contributing to a high water bill. They wanted to make it low-maintenance because, at the time, they were planning for the baby and knew they wouldn’t have as much time to work in the yard. They love their new landscape where they can sit outside, enjoying their new baby and picking fruit. The family dogs—a 70-pound Dalmatian-Doberman mix and a 15-pound Miniature Pincher-Dachshund mix—also enjoy the house and outdoor areas.

The proud parents are happy to be raising their son in this wonderful community. Nim says, “This is it, this is where I want to stay.” It’s a really nice neighborhood with good schools nearby. She also loves where she works. She used to love to play pickleball at the SDCE, but that has taken a backseat as being a mother and celebrating her first Mother’s Day this year has taken priority in her life.

Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the SDCE, or simply soaking in the beauty of a thoughtfully maintained home, this two-story standout truly captures the spirit of springtime living. Congratulations to the homeowners on being named May’s home of the month, a shining example of comfort, style, and community pride.
