A Fresh New Look for San Vicente Resort Lodge Rooms

The San Vicente Resort Lodge has completed a full renovation of its 28 guest rooms and hospitality suite, blending modern comfort and natural charm to offer guests an elevated and stylish resort experience.

Known for its peaceful atmosphere, gorgeous views, and welcoming charm, the lodge has been a favorite destination for guests for years. Lodge Manager Mary Ellen Stevens, who has led with a customer-centric approach since December 2023, envisioned guest rooms with enhanced comfort, style, and functionality—while preserving the charm that makes the lodge special. She invites all to experience the renovated rooms and full range of amenities at the San Vicente Resort Open House on June 18

Stevens brings almost 30 years of experience from her management roles at Hilton Hotels in San Diego. In 1990, she helped open the Red Lion Hotel, now known as the DoubleTree by Hilton, in San Diego-Mission Valley. She even had a fun job working at Tiffany and Co. at the Fashion Valley Mall.

At the San Vicente Resort, she oversees Member-Guest Services operations, including reservations, guest check-ins and check-outs, and upsells amenities such as the restaurant, bar, and golf. The front office provides information to homeowners; usually, the homeowners call the front office first with questions and concerns.

“The renovation project has been in the making for a year now, taking steps one at a time,” says Stevens. The project includes a complete overhaul of 28 guest rooms and one hospitality suite and will be complete with the placement of new artwork that adds pops of color to the rooms in mid-July.

Stevens’ vision for the upgrades was to create sleek, comfortable, and thoughtfully updated rooms that reflect the natural beauty of the golf course and surrounding landscape. Her goal was to showcase the full range of amenities at San Vicente Resort and ensure each room feels refreshed, welcoming, and unmistakably resort-worthy. The renovations embody the lodge’s commitment to offering a relaxing, elevated retreat—blending the charm of Ramona’s countryside with contemporary comfort. “I want people to come see the new renovations during our open house event,” says Stevens.

Stevens led the renovation with a vision to create uniform, contemporary rooms that feel lighter and more open. A fresh coat of soft, light-colored paint and the addition of plantation shutters in all but nine rooms—framing views of the scenic golf course and surrounding mountains—replaced the once darker walls, heavy curtains, and brown-toned décor, transforming each space with a brighter, more inviting feel. Step outside, and guests can relax on new furniture with a table and space for four people to sit.

Guest rooms, featuring either a king or queen-sized bed, now boast brand-new furniture, and all of them match, unlike the outdated rooms. Guest rooms now have floating nightstands, a desk, leather chairs, and a six-drawer one-piece dresser, along with new lamps and lighting, as well as a 55-inch television. In the future, The San Vicente Resort plans to renovate the guest room kitchen area, vanity area, and bathrooms.

The king bed comes with five pillows, and the queen beds have four pillows. Stevens says that guests usually ask for extra pillows at check-in, so she has them covered. The beds are platform beds with no box springs and pillowtop Sealy mattresses. Each bed is triple-sheeted, with the comforter in the middle, and she added a bed scarf at the end of each bed. Each room has end-of-the-bed storage space, where guests can find extra blankets instead of having to search for them in the closet. Stevens adds the closets are very large and have a lot of room for guests to store their luggage.

The lodge features three levels: the lower level, the premium parking level, and the executive top floor. The lower level offers blackout curtains and patios that open directly onto the golf course, providing views of golfers teeing off on the 10th hole. The top-floor executive rooms feature added amenities, including a Keurig coffee maker, complimentary slippers, mouthwash, toothpaste, a sewing kit, and Neutrogena makeup wipes.

Guests interested in booking a room at the lodge can do so online at SanVicenteResort.com or call the front desk at 760-789-8290 to make a reservation.
