Cody Snyder Helps Keep the San Vicente Golf Community Swinging

From helping golfers refine their swings to building lasting customer relationships, Cody Snyder brings a personal touch to the game at San Vicente Resort.

For Cody Snyder, golf is about more than the perfect swing or finding the right club. It’s about building relationships, helping players improve their game and creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who visits the San Vicente Resort golf shop.

Snyder has worked in the golf shop at San Vicente Resort, formerly known as the San Diego Country Estates golf shop, for five years. He has been playing golf for six years, although his introduction to the sport began much earlier.

At 16, Snyder occasionally visited the driving range with his dad and brother, making it an annual outing rather than a regular hobby. That changed in 2018, when he got his first set of golf clubs and began developing his interest in the game.

Today, golf is not only something he enjoys playing but also something he gets to share with others. In addition to his golf shop responsibilities, Snyder teaches lessons at San Vicente Resort one to three times a week. His students range in age from 12 to 62, each bringing different abilities, goals and expectations to the game.

“What I like most about my job is that I get to interact with people and customers,” Snyder said. “There is a personal side to it. I get to see people from all different backgrounds, and I enjoy what I do.”

Helping golfers improve requires a flexible approach. Snyder explained that teaching can be sophisticated and detail-oriented for some players, while others benefit from focusing on the basics. He adjusts his instruction to each client's physical abilities, athletic experience and understanding of the game.

Golf can also be an emotional sport. Players may be hard on themselves after a difficult shot, while a great shot can leave them feeling on top of the world. As an instructor, Snyder works to help his students navigate those highs and lows while developing their skills and confidence.

For Snyder, one of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing the results of his instruction.

“I can do what I was taught to do and see the end result,” he said.

Although coaching can sometimes be frustrating, Snyder emphasizes the importance of earning his students' trust. Building that relationship helps golfers feel comfortable with the learning process and gives them confidence in the guidance they receive.

Weather is rarely an obstacle for him. Snyder teaches in wind, rain and other conditions, although he recognizes that some students prefer to practice when the weather is more favorable.

When asked what he likes most about working at San Vicente Resort, Snyder pointed to the people he works alongside.

“The best thing about working at San Vicente Resort is the employees,” he said.

While the products offered in one golf shop may not differ significantly from those at another, Snyder believes the staff's personalities and genuine care for customers are what set San Vicente apart.

The golf shop is more than a place to purchase equipment. Employees and customers talk about golf, share stories and sometimes discuss weekend plans with their families. The staff also recognizes that every customer is looking for something different. Some prefer a traditional country club atmosphere, while others enjoy a more relaxed environment where they can socialize with friends.

Snyder and his coworkers strive to make both experiences possible, helping create a golf community where people feel comfortable returning.

He also enjoys being part of the larger golf community through special events at the course, including the Teeing Off Fore Grant golf tournament at San Vicente Golf Resort in Ramona. Participating in charity events gives the team an opportunity to support meaningful causes and help families and organizers achieve their goals.

For Snyder, those events are another reminder that golf can bring people together for reasons that extend well beyond the game itself.

Of course, he still enjoys the challenge of playing. When asked about his favorite club in his bag right now, Snyder chose his No. 2 iron, a club he appreciates for its versatility.

“I can hit whatever shot I want,” he said, explaining that he can use it to hit a low, stinger, a high draw or shots of varying distances.

That confidence reflects the same enthusiasm he brings to teaching others: understanding the game, developing skills and finding ways to get the most out of every shot.

Whether he is helping a customer find the right equipment, teaching a new golfer the fundamentals or working with an experienced player to refine a particular shot, Snyder enjoys the personal connections that come with his job.

At San Vicente Resort, that combination of golf knowledge, instruction and genuine hospitality helps make the golf shop an important part of the experience for local golfers and visiting players alike.
