Endless Summer Couples Golf Tournament Brings Aloha Spirit to the Fairways
With Hawaiian shirts, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter, the Endless Summer Couples Golf Tournament turned a sunny August morning into a celebration of community, connection, and fun on the course.
It was a picture-perfect summer morning on Saturday, August 9th, as 32 golfers teed off in the annual Couples Golf Tournament. With the sun shining, a light breeze in the air, and splashes of tropical color from Hawaiian shirts and floral leis, the "Endless Summer" theme was in full swing.
The format was 3-2-1, a fun, forgiving style of play where each foursome counts three balls for par-3 holes, two balls for par-4 holes, and only one ball for par-5 holes. The day also featured six exciting field events for both men and women, including straightest drive on hole #14, closest to the pin (#8 for men and #15 for women), and longest putts on #17. These extra challenges meant plenty of chances to take home a prize, whether players finished in the top overall spots or excelled in a single shot.
This year's friendly and festive event was hosted by Cathy Knowles, Hugh Blackwood, Kris Jolly, and AJ White. "Everyone dressed in the Hawaiian-themed clothing, and it made the whole day so much fun," said Blackwood.
Winners' Circle:
1st Place – Simon Morton & Angela Cowardin, score-117, winnings-$80
2nd Place – Hugh Blackwood & Cathy Knowles, winnings-$48
3rd Place (tie) – Sam & Amy Sailors and Blane & Kelsey Clements, winnings-$32 each
Field Event Winners:
Straightest Drive (#14) – AJ White & Annette Schwipper
Longest Putt (#17) – James Hill (6'10") & Marcy Aubert (13'1")
Closest to the Pin – Cathy Knowles (#15)
Closest to the Pin – no men reached the green on #8, so Esther Franck was awarded the prize as a courtesy on her first tournament back after recovery, and she celebrated with a birdie!
From start to finish, the day was filled with friendly competition, laughter, and a shared love of the game. Between the tropical outfits, friendly banter, and the sunshine, this year's Endless Summer tournament proved that golf is about more than just the scorecard; it's about community, connection, and making memories worth repeating.
