Facility Update: Fall Maintenance and Improvements at Casey Tibbs and IEC

Lisa Everett, Equestrian Manager • October 29, 2024

Casey Tibbs and IEC facilities have undergone essential fall maintenance, including infield cleanup, rain prep, and a new well tank installation, ensuring a safe environment ready for the winter season.

With fall in full swing, Casey Tibbs and IEC facilities are prepped and polished for winter. Our team has completed essential maintenance and new improvements to ensure the grounds remain safe, functional, and inviting.

In the infield, an extensive cleanup has brought new life to the area. We trimmed trees around the berm and barns, creating a refreshed look and improving safety. Compost was spread on the infield slope to help prevent erosion and keep weeds at bay over the winter months. Safety was also a priority in inspecting all jumps, removing any damaged or unsafe ones to maintain a secure environment for riders.

Rain preparation efforts are now in place across both facilities. New waddles have been laid, and drainage areas behind the barns have been cleared to handle potential winter rains. At Arena 1 in Casey Tibbs, we are closing the end of the arena to prevent blowouts, which have posed challenges in the past. This measure will help stabilize the arena’s surface and protect it from winter wear.

A significant update at Casey Tibbs is the installation of a new well tank, enabling us to run fully on well water again. This addition marks a key step toward sustainable resource management, reducing dependence on external water sources.

Looking ahead, our team plans to enhance the facilities even further. The water feature at IEC will be reinstalled, adding to the ambiance of the grounds, and grading work will be completed at the mare motel for improved durability and comfort.

We appreciate your support and patience as we work to keep both Casey Tibbs and IEC ready for the season, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.

At the San Diego Country Estates Association, we are fortunate to have a team full of hardworking, dedicated individuals. This month, we are proud to spotlight someone who exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond. Congratulations to our Employee of the Month for August, Tim Breidenstein, a team player both on and off the golf course.

She wore the crown as a Ramona Queen more than two decades ago, but even after all these years, Anjeanette hasn’t forgotten where she came from or what it gave her. The lessons of Ramona stayed with her: resilience, grace under pressure, and the strength to rebuild when life took a different course.
