Creative costumes, spooky obstacle courses and Halloween-themed games brought Ramona’s equestrian community together for a festive day of friendly competition, laughter and fun.

Halloween took on a little extra excitement for Ramona's equestrian community as horses and riders traded their everyday riding attire for Halloween costumes during the Casey Tibbs Riders Halloween Fun Show and Obstacle Challenge on Saturday, October 31.

Held at the International Equestrian Center on Gunn Stage Road, the event brought together riders and families for a day filled with Halloween-themed competitions, games, costumes and community fun.

The morning kicked off with a costume parade at 9 a.m., giving riders an opportunity to show off their creativity as they made their way around the arena with their horses dressed for the occasion. Throughout the day, participants competed in a variety of horse-and-rider classes, as well as games and activities for those without horses.

Mounted classes included the Eyeball Roundup, Witches Brew, Monster Mash Musical Horse, Bat and Vampire Race, and Mounted Costume Contest. Riders without horses also had plenty of opportunities to join in the Halloween fun with the Oogie Boogie Boot Race, Skeleton Sack Race, Ghost Scramble, and a ground costume class.

The Casey Tibbs Riders Halloween Obstacle Challenge by Christine Snyder was fun for horses and riders as they navigated around a spooky course. The course had ten stops that included the Gateway to Horror, Curtain, Witches Brew, Wake the Dead, Haunted Trail, Cemetery, Bridge to Nowhere, Spider Webb, Back Up to Boogieman, and Mailbox Treats.

The event offered something for everyone, whether competing in the arena or cheering on friends and family. Winners received prizes, Halloween medals and fun skeleton trophies, while candy was handed out to add a little extra Halloween spirit. Several festive photo opportunities around the arena gave families a chance to capture memories from the day.

A silent auction also featured a variety of donated baskets, gift cards and items from local businesses and community supporters, including Elston's Hay and Grain, Kahoots, San Vicente Resort, VCA Adobe Animal Hospital, The Gym, Tractor Supply, Ramona Metal Works, Diamond D and Red, Whites & Brews. San Vicente Resort contributed a gift card for dinner at either the Oaks Grille or Par Lounge.

Adding to the festivities, food and shopping options were available throughout the event. Salt & Pepper brought its food truck, The Rescued Pup offered items from its truck and trailer, and Earth Made Snow Cones provided a sweet treat for attendees.

The Casey Tibbs Riders committee did a wonderful job putting together an entertaining Halloween celebration that brought riders, families and the community together. From the imaginative costumes and friendly competitions to the games, prizes and special touches throughout the arena, the Halloween Fun Show and Obstacle Challenge created a day full of smiles, laughter and lasting memories.

It was a fitting way to celebrate Halloween in Ramona, combining a love of horses with a little friendly competition and plenty of holiday spirit.
