January Home of the Month: Welcome the New Year at Home

The January Home of the Month features Jeffrey and Joan Stemler’s warm and welcoming SDCE home, where family, community, and country living come together to create the perfect place for making memories.

As we welcome the fresh beginnings of the New Year, San Diego Country Estates is proud to feature a truly exceptional property as our January Home of the Month. Nestled amidst rolling hills and majestic trees, this stunning residence perfectly captures the charm and serenity that make our community so special. With thoughtful design, modern comforts, and breathtaking views that stretch over the countryside, this home offers both a peaceful retreat and an entertainer’s dream.

Jeffrey and Joan Stemler moved from Poway into the three bedroom, two bathroom home in August 2018. Family drew them to the community. After their adult children bought homes in SDCE, the Stemler’s were ready to downsize and move closer to their family. Poway was close, but still a bit of a drive when visiting their five grandchildren. “We all live within a mile apart,” says Joan.

The 1,640 square feet home features an open floor plan. The central living room, where the family congregates, is surrounded by the family room, dining room, and kitchen. Upon seeing it for the first time Joan described the house as meticulous, with added upgrades, a pool, and amazing views. After moving in, the couple remodeled both bathrooms and decorated their new home in a contemporary style mixed with beautiful antiques.

“It’s all I ever wanted if I had to downsize,” says Joan. “I always wanted a pool.”

Always a swimmer, she can now enjoy her hobby without leaving home. Joan also appreciates the SDCE amenities, using the heated golf course pool in the winter months. Her grandchildren participate on the swim team. The family orders regularly from the Par Lounge and Joan frequents Ramona Oaks Park with her grandchildren.

In addition to the pool, the outdoor space is used by Joan’s sister Kathy, who also lives in the home. Her succulent garden adds charm to peaceful surroundings.

The Stemler’s fell in love with the home instantly and immediately put in an offer. After initially being denied, they continued their search but were overjoyed when their real estate agent informed them the offer was accepted. “It was kind of meant to be,” says Joan.

They host family gatherings and parties and the grandchildren love to swim in their pool. “It’s all at grandma and grandpa’s house,” says Joan. Rocky, their Stafford bull terrier mix, agrees that their home is a great place to be.
