Marissa Travis: June’s Employee of the Month

Equestrian Assistant Marissa Travis is recognized as Employee of the Month for June.

San Diego Country Estates Association is honored to spotlight a deserving employee, Equestrian Assistant Marissa Travis, who joined the team in October 2023.

Her job is to assist the manager of the department, Lisa Everett, in the office by updating client files of incoming boarders. She is Everett’s assistant and does whatever needs to be done. She works at both equestrian centers: The International Equestrian Center and The Casey Tibbs Western Center.

She works in her office in the Rotunda at the IEC about 25 percent of the time, and the other 75 percent is spent outdoors at the facilities. She doesn’t directly work with the horses, although she helps to maintain the centers. If something is broken, she works with clients and boarders to repair it.

One of the projects that Marissa excelled in was the recent renovation of the Mare Motel at the IEC. According to Everett, she was there with a smile every day throughout the project. She assisted with everything from shoveling to tractor work and oversaw the maintenance crew when the manager was offsite.

Marissa was chosen because she shines in all aspects of her job. Her manager, Lisa Everett, says she is always a positive presence among staff and boarders at the facilities. Marissa is happy to step in and assist any team member and goes above and beyond her work.

Travis has been involved with horses throughout her life and is very passionate about them. She enjoys having an outdoor job and being part of a team that works well together. “Our team makes the job better,” says Travis. She says Lisa Everett is amazing, the guys that work outside are wonderful and it’s a really great place to work. “Lisa is the glue that holds the team together.”

When she is not at work, she is with her two children, ages 4 and 7. They enjoy a lot of outdoor activities together and have horses and dogs. “Kids, horses and dogs are my family.”

Thank you, Marissa, for being a valued member of the team. It’s a joy to see your hard work being acknowledged.
