Meet our new San Vicente Resort Lodge Manager: Mary Ellen Stevens

Management focused on an excellent guest and member experience.

Mary Ellen Stevens started work as the San Vicente Resort Lodge Manager after a little over 30 years working in a successful career in the hospitality industry. She plays a pivotal role in enhancing the overall guest experience, driving sales, and fostering a culture of excellence within the 14-person Member-Guest Services, Night Auditing and Housekeeping teams she manages.

Mary Ellen oversees three areas, including lodge operations, enhancing our guest and member experience and all aspects of guest relations from check-in to check-out, and driving sales and revenue by maximizing the bookings of our 28 guest rooms.

She leverages her hospitality experience in San Diego County based Hilton hotels and has assembled a well-trained team. Mary Ellen has spearheaded initiatives to modernize the guest rooms, which will be complete in mid-June, and she has replaced our very old patio furniture with more comfortable chairs. In addition, she tapped into her natural service orientation to create a service culture where team members can exceed guest expectations.

Mary Ellen and her husband, Brian, moved to the Estates in September 1998 to a peaceful country environment that balanced the hustle and bustle of their workplaces in crowded San Diego locations. Both commuted to work from Ramona, and Mary Ellen drove to Mission Valley and La Jolla. “We liked the quiet community, wanted more land for our house, purchased a brand-new home and assisted in the design. We like the peaceful family environment and enjoy raising our son, JT, in this neighborhood with all the amenities to enjoy. Everyone here is welcoming, friendly, and ready to help each other,” Mary Ellen said. In 2019, she retired from Hilton to care for her 91-year-old dad and resumed her hospitality career at the resort five months ago.

She has been involved with many conference and convention groups over the years, her favorite being the Dallas Cowboys when they played preseason games with the San Diego Chargers! She also met President Barack Obama.

Assistant General Manager Josh Jones, who manages the lodge business, said, “She has proven to be an asset to her department and the organization. She has made strides to improve the look, quality, and operational efficiencies of the resort guest rooms. She places her team at the forefront with a focus on team building and celebrating their successes. I look forward to working with her to develop and promote our community amenities.”
