Meet the Instructor: Sergio Saucedo Brings a Love of Golf and Community to San Diego Country Estates
From first-time golfer to Golf Shop Supervisor, Sergio Saucedo's journey reflects a decade of dedication, community, and a growing passion for the game at San Diego Country Estates.
For Sergio Saucedo, golf wasn’t always part of his story. When he first began working at San Diego Country Estates, he didn’t even play the game. Ten years later, he has become a familiar face at the golf shop and an important part of the golf community.
Sergio started his career at San Diego Country Estates working in the cart barn, where he spent time learning the ins and outs of the golf operation. Although he wasn’t a golfer when he started, his interest in the sport grew after he decided to give it a try and played his first nine holes.
Four years ago, Sergio transitioned to the golf shop, where he now serves as the Golf Shop Supervisor. Since making the move, he has continued to develop his appreciation for the game while helping create a welcoming experience for members and guests.
One of Sergio’s favorite parts of working at San Diego Country Estates is the people. He enjoys being surrounded by his coworkers and appreciates the relationships he has built over the years. The team atmosphere and the opportunity to work alongside people who share his passion for serving the community are some of the things that make his job special.
In addition to his role at the golf shop, Sergio enjoys giving back to the next generation of golfers by helping with the junior golf clinics. While he does not provide private lessons, he enjoys supporting young players as they learn the fundamentals of the sport and build confidence on the course.
Today, Sergio still finds time to enjoy golf himself, playing about once a week. His journey from the cart barn to the golf shop is a reminder that sometimes a new passion can begin with simply giving something a try.
Whether assisting golfers in the shop, helping with junior programs, or sharing his enthusiasm for the game, Sergio continues to be a valuable part of the San Diego Country Estates golf community.
