Horsefeathers: May 2025

Marissa Travis, Equestrian Supervisor • June 4, 2025

Lots of exciting things going on to kick off the Summer!

We would like to welcome new boarders at Cassey Tibbs as well as The International Equestrian Center.

  • Exciting News this month: We received approval at the last Board meeting to move forward with the Barn C renovation at IEC and plan to break ground on that project in the next several months. The barn has passed its useful life and is now unsafe for horses to occupy. We will be replacing all the walls in the barn and adding in and out-paddocks to the west infield-facing stalls. The east stalls will have sliding walls to allow them to be in single or double configuration. We are excited to be renovating and bringing it back to its pristine shape for horses to use again.
  • The long-awaited renovation of the Dressage Court is set to begin the first week of June. Riders are advised to exercise caution while using the infield during this time. We are excited to partner with Triple Crown Arenas on this project, which will assist with arena maintenance and repairs as we move forward. The North Dressage Court #2 will have a DG base, railroad ties, and new footing installed. South Court #3 will have the existing base level and footing refreshed. The courts are in high demand, and we are excited to increase the safety and riding surface for all equestrians.
  • We are continuing our weeding at both centers, and things look great.
  • Join the Equestrian Committee for a Fiesta Potluck on Saturday, June 14, from 6 – 9 pm in the Rotunda. Bring your favorite Mexican dish to share and enjoy an evening of food and camaraderie.
