San Vicente Women’s Golf Association Championship

The 2025 San Vicente Women’s Golf Championship celebrated three days of spirited competition, culminating in Cathy Knowles claiming the Club Champion title alongside fellow winners Corinne Hill, Nancy Berger, and Virginia Krieger.

Over three days of competition from May 15 to May 22, fifteen of the club’s finest women golfers teed off to compete for the title of 2025 San Vicente Women’s Club Champion.

Players started at staggered tee times, beginning at 8 am, each arriving in their golf gear ready to prove they belong at this prestigious event. The course rose to the occasion, offering warm morning light and soft breezes. The leaderboard shifted with every iron shot and dramatic putt, but one name rose to the top: Cathy Knowles.

Cathy brought her A-game, and she recounted her tournament journey with grace and humor:

  • First Round: Coming off a grueling event just days earlier, Cathy admitted she was exhausted. “I focused on staying out of trouble,” she laughed. “And I managed to leave every green within two putts.”
  • Second Round: Nerves were present, but so was the magic. Cathy chipped in for par on Hole 1, setting the tone. On Hole 14 (4 par), her second shot found the water—only to ricochet off a hidden rock and bounce back onto the approach. “I still can’t believe it,” she said. “You can’t make this stuff up.”
  • Third Round: With confidence high, Cathy reminded herself of her mantra: two putts or less. The focus paid off as she built a comfortable five to six-stroke lead.

Cathy graciously credited her coaches: “Huge thanks to Matt and Fred for all their help during lessons. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
