Ramona High School Graduates and Olive Peirce Middle School Promotees Look Toward the Future

Tiffany Pressler • June 12, 2024
School is out for the summer, and Ramona High School graduates are moving on to the real world, while Olive Peirce Middle School students are moving up to high school. The high school graduates and 8th graders who were promoted are stepping into new possibilities, and they now have the tools to succeed.

Jacob Raher

Ramona High School graduation was held Thursday, June 6, at 7 pm. One high school graduate and SDCE resident, Jacob Raher, 18, played on the football team all four years as a linebacker. He says he is going to miss his friends and the camaraderie that they had together throughout his high school career.

Raher graduated with a 4.6 GPA and earned the Ramona Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, Ramona Pop Warner Scholarship, National Scholar Athlete Award, and the Real Estate Association Scholarship. He is headed off to the University of Oregon in mid-September to obtain a Business Management Degree specializing in Sports Medicine. He will be helping with the football team and interning as a Director of Player Personnel. He plans to intern with Nike during his sophomore year.

Raher is going to live on campus and is excited for a new atmosphere. He says sports are big at the university and he is excited to meet new people and get the job he wants in the future. He is striving to be the Director of Player Personnel for the NFL and dreams of becoming the NFL General Manager.

Finnlee Gallagher

Olive Peirce Middle School’s promotional ceremony was held Thursday, June 6, at 9 am at Ramona High School’s Bulldog Stadium. Ms. Becky Geiger, 8th grade History and Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) teacher, said one of her students, SDCE resident Finnlee Gallagher, who promoted from Olive Peirce Middle School, is incredible. “She is one of the hardest working, kindest and most driven students I have ever taught. She is dedicated to her studies and is on the swim team, marching band and in WEB.” She was one of the speech winners for promotion and a VFW award finalist.

Finnlee’s favorite subject in school is English. She says she enjoys writing and conveying her thoughts and emotions on paper and watching the stories unfold. She was also in the WEB leadership group, which stands for Where Everyone Belongs. This group hosted events such as luncheons where parents could visit their students; they had bake sales, water balloon toss, a dodgeball tournament, and a kindness challenge. Finnlee and her friends hosted an anti-bullying discussion at an assembly last October. They spoke about how to prevent bullying and how to reach out if you need help.

As Finnlee reflects on her journey at OPMS, she will miss starting her days with ACE. For some, it can be a study hall, but for her, it was her leadership class where she made the most memories.
