San Vicente Men’s Golf Club Championship: Tough Course, Fierce Competition, Memorable Wins
The San Vicente Men’s Golf Club capped its season with a dramatic finish as 55 players battled for top honors.
The San Vicente Men’s Golf Club brought its season to an exciting close with the annual Championship Tournament, held at San Vicente Golf Course. A strong field of 55 players competed in the final tournament of the year, each striving for one of the club’s most coveted titles.
In the Overall Gross Division, it was Nick Ericson who once again rose to the occasion. With steady play throughout the day, Ericson captured the title for the second year in a row—an impressive back-to-back victory. His consistent performance not only secured his spot as Gross Champion but also earned him the honor of advancing to represent the San Vicente Men’s Golf Club in competition against other clubs.
The Overall Low Net Championship created some of the most thrilling moments of the day. After 18 regulation holes, Tony Garcia and Steve Duncan found themselves in a tie, forcing a three-hole playoff. The two golfers battled through each shot in front of fellow members who gathered to watch the drama unfold. On the third hole of the playoff, Garcia edged out Duncan to claim the Net Club Championship. It was a hard-fought victory after a long day on the course and one that highlighted the competitive spirit and camaraderie of the club.
Club President Jim Anderson praised the entire event, crediting both the golfers and the staff. “The course was in excellent shape and played tough. The course conditions and greens were the best they have ever been. Ben McBride, our golf course superintendent, and his staff made this a tournament to remember. Matt’s crew in the Golf Shop also did a great job supporting the tournament,” Anderson said.
Congratulations to all the participants for making the 2025 Championship a memorable finale to the Men’s Club season.
