SVWGA Summer Member/Member Tournament Celebrates New Players and Strong Competition

The SVWGA Summer Member/Member Tournament blended fun, food, and friendly competition, welcoming new players and celebrating an exciting net win by Angela Cowardin and Amy Sailors.

What a fun Summer Member/Member Tournament with 20 players competing! We kept a good pace throughout, though the tougher Day 2 back-nine format—requiring both balls to count—added an extra challenge.

Despite a setback on hole #17, Angela Cowardin and Amy Sailors held onto their strong lead and secured the overall net victory. Thanks to Sergio Saucedo for posting the scores through Golf Genius—Leaderboard and Sweeps reports are attached.

Those who finished early enjoyed snacks and drinks while waiting for the rest of the group. Chef Ben treated us to lobster bisque with sourdough rolls topped with everything seasoning, along with three delicious salads: Blue Chopped, Southwest, and Chinese Chicken, served in The Oaks Grille. For dessert, we indulged in Joyce Whitehead’s homemade pecan bars and ice cream.

All three new players—Beth Shott, Arvilla Rodgers, and Kiersten Easley (golf members new to women’s club tournaments)—won sweeps prize money! We hope to see them join us again on upcoming Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Congratulations to all who participated and to all the winners!
