Clean & Green Day and Fall Festival: A Community Success!

Over 100 attendees enjoyed the Clean & Green Day and Fall Festival at Ramona Oaks Park, with carnival games, crafts, live music, food vendors, and sustainability-focused activities from local organizations like Ramona Disposal, Sustainable Ramona, Boo Crew, and Boy Scouts from Troop 679.

The recent Clean & Green Day and Fall Festival at Ramona Oaks Park was a huge hit, attracting couples, friends, families, and plenty of kids! This lively event was a wonderful celebration of community, sustainability, and family fun, with activities and entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

The event kicked off with Clean & Green Day, an initiative aimed at spreading awareness about environmental sustainability and local community efforts to keep our surroundings cleaner and greener. This portion of the event was made possible through the collaboration of four dedicated entities:

  • Ramona Disposal Service, with Susan White and her daughter, Adrienne Biondo, educated attendees on proper waste disposal and recycling practices. They shared detailed information on making a difference by sorting trash into the correct color-coded containers. The park featured containers marked “Trash” with black bags and “Recycles” with blue bags, encouraging participants to think before throwing away garbage.

  • Sustainable Ramona, led by Michele Sund and Belinda Flynn, shared insights on creating a more eco-friendly community. Their team focused on educating participants about the Earth and provided both large and small models of Earth for people to take home, along with educational materials to raise awareness.

  • Boy Scout Troop 679 had a strong presence, with leader Sean Moriarty, scouts Lincoln Nair, Brennen Moriarity, and Jeremiah and Micah Greene paving the way and sharing their knowledge about environmental stewardship. I toured with the scouts as they handed out reusable shopping bags, reminding recipients to “Love the Earth.” Many asked what was needed in return, and the simple answer was: “Use less plastic and paper” while sending love to the Earth. Nearby, Micah Greene, dressed as the Earth, received an outpouring of positive energy, hugs, and kiss gestures from attendees as he spun around in his costume, spreading joy and environmental awareness.

  • Boo Crew, founded by Phoenix West and his mom, Kelly, encouraged participants to join their post-Halloween cleanup efforts on Friday, Nov. 1, at 1 pm at the corner of Del Amo Road and Del Amo Place.

After the first hour of educational fun during Clean & Green Day, the Fall Festival began, bringing with it a host of activities, including carnival games, a cake walk, craft booths, and even temporary tattoos for the creative crowd. The energy soared as the Whiskey State of Mind band took the stage, entertaining everyone with their rock and country blend.

Food vendors provided a delicious variety of choices from Outlaw BBQ, Carnival of Food, and Nomadic Pizza Trolley, ensuring no one went home hungry.

The event wasn’t just about fun—it was about showing love for our planet and community, with plenty of opportunities to learn, volunteer, and make a difference. If you missed it this year, be sure to mark your calendar for next time—this is one community event that truly brings people together!

Thanks to the wonderful, and fun, partners from Ramona Disposal, Sustainable Ramona, Boy Scout Troup 679, and Boo Crew!

I look forward to seeing some of you at Boo Crew next Friday!
