Danny’s Kitchen Brings Home-Cooked Comfort and Positivity to San Diego Country Estates

Danny's Kitchen is proving that the best ingredient in every homemade meal is a passion for serving others.

In a community where neighbors often know each other by name, Danny Towers has found a way to bring people even closer, one homemade meal at a time. Towers, a resident of the San Diego Country Estates, runs Danny’s Kitchen, a growing local meal service built on scratch cooking, personal delivery, and a philosophy rooted in gratitude and positivity.

For just $20 per meal (tips appreciated), Towers prepares and delivers freshly made dishes directly to customers’ homes. Weekly menus are available by text at 858-335-5021.

What started about four years ago with baked goods has expanded into a full home-cooking operation featuring options such as lasagna and vegetable dishes, shrimp, pork chops, cakes, and a wide range of Hispanic and Mexican-inspired meals. Everything is made from scratch.

“I was looking at the older population that doesn’t have access to as much healthy food and is mostly eating frozen meals,” Towers said. “Your body can’t process all the processed foods on the market. I try to make everything as natural as I possibly can.”

His approach to cooking is deeply influenced by his upbringing. He credits his mother as the foundation of his culinary style and says he has continued building on what she taught him. Today, he focuses on simple, natural ingredients. Flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a touch of salt, while letting technique and time do the rest.

Some dishes take six to seven hours to prepare, while others, like shrimp, come together quickly. Either way, Towers says the process is where he feels most at home.

“I can spend 11 hours in a kitchen and be content,” he said. “I love dancing and music. I just stay focused on the food and don’t get pulled into other things.”

That energy is something customers often notice immediately. Towers describes his work style as upbeat and immersive, often dancing through the kitchen while cooking. Beyond daily meals, he also caters events, including weddings, and has built a reputation for food that feels both comforting and personal. Kids are especially fond of his homemade meatballs, he said. His wife of more than 30 years, Sandy, is his biggest supporter.

“She’s been with me through everything,” Towers said.

Delivery routes often take him across Ramona, where he sees a wide range of homes and lifestyles. Rather than focusing on differences, he says the experience reinforces his outlook on gratitude.

“I see a variety of ways people live, some have a lot of money, some not so much,” he said. “But yesterday we cannot do anything about it, so today is the best day of my life.”

That mindset extends beyond business. Towers also cooks for cancer patients and others in need, saying he aims to provide meals that help people feel cared for and supported during difficult times.

“I donate to people that need help,” he said. “I try to make people smile.”

Sourcing fresh ingredients is another priority. He regularly shops at local markets, including the Grange Farmers Market, where he picks up produce, fruit, vegetables, and fresh juice. At the heart of Danny’s Kitchen is a simple mission: real food, made with care, delivered with kindness.

In a fast-paced world, Towers hopes his meals offer something increasingly rare, time to slow down, enjoy a homemade dish, and feel a little more connected to the community around them.
