Holiday Magic Pops at San Vicente Resort’s Annual Balloon Event

San Vicente Resort kicked off December with Christmas spirit, hosting one of its most beloved traditions, the annual Balloon Sale, on Friday, Dec. 5. The Golf Shop transformed into a festive maze of colorful balloons, each hiding a surprise discount ranging from 20 percent to a generous 100 percent off. With only two 50 percent balloons and one coveted 100 percent balloon, golfers arrived early and eager to pop their way to the best deal of the year.

The luckiest golfers of the day were DJ and Carson Moss, who popped the 100 percent balloon and walked away with shoes, golf balls, hats, and tees completely free. Their excitement added to the energy in the shop and kept the festive mood alive.

For many, the Balloon Sale is a yearly ritual. For Patrick Fine, it is one of the many reasons he loves San Vicente, but it is the community that keeps him coming back year after year. “I love San Vicente Resort because when I come out as a single player, I meet the greatest people,” he said. “That is not always the case at other golf courses.” 

He shared that he typically buys golf balls during the sale since that is what he needs most, and his luck in past years has been remarkable. “Two years ago, I pulled the 100 percent balloon, and last year I grabbed a 50 percent,” he recalled. “I got three dozen balls both times.”

He described San Vicente as having a unique culture, one built on kindness, camaraderie, and genuine friendliness. “I love the community out here, and that is what makes San Vicente so special,” he said. “You can always find a friend when you come out to play at San Vicente.” For Patrick, the Balloon Sale is the perfect blend of big discounts and meaningful connections with the people who make the resort feel like home.

For Doug Morgano, the Balloon Sale is all about family connection. “My son invited me, basically to goad me into buying him something,” Doug said with a laugh. “We are always trying to find the best deal, but honestly, it is more about supporting him. His birthday is on Christmas, so this time of year feels special.”



Doug’s son has grown up around San Vicente Resort, and the course has helped shape both his game and their relationship. “I live close to the resort, and the people here are so supportive,” Doug said. “My son has grown up here and developed his golf game here. Now I get to hang out with my kid, who is actually teaching me how to play. Golf brings us together, and San Vicente has had a lot to do with that.”

The Golf Shop staff kept the excitement going all day. “Members and homeowners get to participate, and everyone loves a discount before Christmas,” the staff shared. From apparel and accessories to golf essentials, the Golf Shop made sure there was something for everyone. “We even restocked the shop in the afternoon with new items that had not been put out yet.”

More than deals and discounts, the Balloon Sale was a celebration of community, laughter, and moments worth remembering. Whether golfers walked away with a big discount, a bag full of free gear like DJ and Carson Moss, or simply a fun memory before Christmas, the event was a joyful success.
