Johnathan Martinez Adds Color to the Ramona Art, Music & Wine Festival with Custom Painted Wine Barrel Featured at the Par Lounge
Local artist Johnathan Martinez's one-of-a-kind painted wine barrel is on display at San Vicente Resort. Meet that artist at the Meet the Wine Maker event on October 29, featuring Ramona Ranch wines and Ashley E Norton.
The 13th annual Ramona Art, Wine & Music Festival is set for Saturday, November 1, at Begent Ranch. The celebration will include the region's finest wineries, musicians, and artists, and will benefit the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project, which has transformed the town with colorful public art.
Among this year's featured artists is Johnathan Martinez, a painter whose bold, faceless figures have become both recognizable and deeply personal to the community. Martinez's unique style invites viewers to project themselves into his work, thereby creating an emotional bridge between the artist and the audience. His H.E.A.R.T murals include "La Quinceañera" at 1905 Main Street, which celebrates family and cultural traditions, and "The Garden" at 680 Main Street, a colorful, multidimensional tribute to nature and community.
Martinez will be at the Meet the Winemaker event at the Par Lounge on October 29, featuring his latest painted wine barrel, which is currently on display at the Par Lounge. Martinez started painting wine barrels in 2014, and this barrel is his fifth. This year, his wine barrel features plumeria flowers and hummingbirds. "I want to wow people," says Martinez.
Over the years, Martinez's hand-painted wine barrels have drawn attention during the Ramona Art, Wine & Music Festival's live auction, each piece a vibrant blend of vineyard tradition and contemporary artistry. "I like creativity," he says. According to Martinez, he received a lot of positive feedback on his hummingbird mural titled "The Garden" and says that everybody likes hummingbirds, so he decided to paint that along with plumerias on this year's wine barrel.
Art is more than expression; it's service. Martinez, who served his country for eight years in the Navy, now serves his community through bold artwork that reflects all of us. With every mural, wine barrel, and brushstroke, Martinez helps transform Ramona into a destination, one where art, wine, and music converge with community pride.
