November Home of the Month: A Home Filled with Gratitude

As the San Diego Country Estates settles into the cozy spirit of November, this month’s Home of the Month stands out as a place where comfort, care, and gratitude come together. Framed by autumn colors and the peaceful beauty of the Estates, the welcoming property reflects the heart of the Thanksgiving season, a home where family gathers, memories are made, and the simple joys of community shine bright.

November’s featured homeowners have created a space that feels warm the moment you step inside, offering an inspiring glimpse into the lifestyle that makes the community so special.

Homeowners Steve and Dee Martz moved into their home in 2023. It was a new build designed by Mike Coble and his wife, Barbara. The Martz couple spent 37 years in Ramona before moving to Menifee. After a while, they decided to relocate back to Ramona. Family and the community drew them back to the San Diego Country Estates. “It took five minutes to seal the deal on our new home,” says Martz. “And three weeks to close.”

They have now lived in the 2,500-square-foot home for two years. It is a four-bedroom and two-bath home set on ½ acre. Their daughter lives two blocks away. Dee is a retired realtor, and Steve retired from Sales in May, so they have time to enjoy their brand-new home and have the great grandkids over often. “We were looking to get back to family,” says Martz. They lived in the SDCE for 22 years prior, and they are really happy to be back.

“I wanted to do the landscape,” says Steve. There is a slope to the property, and he wanted a flat area. So, he had a retaining wall built and put a fence on top of that, so they have a flat backyard. The property is equipped with an outdoor fireplace and a patio cover. Their property doesn’t have grass, so he doesn’t have to maintain it, and a lot of concrete for the grandkids to play on. The property features citrus trees, DG, and decorative rock.

“We really enjoy the neighbors and everyone is friendly,” says Steve. He added that since the house is new, they don’t have to replace items and do renovations, and they are really happy about that.

The inside of the home is decorated for the holidays, and around Christmas, they set up a wire Labrador that lights up in holiday colors. The light-up dog was inspired by their very own 8-year-old Labradoodle, Rosie. They like to keep it simple, and they enjoy the neighbors’ decorated homes.

Join us in congratulating the homeowners of November’s Home of the Month for creating a space that inspires warmth, gratitude, and community—the very essence of the season.
