Dog owners will gather with their furry friends at the Ramona Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 14, to participate in the 16th Annual BowWow PowWow Dog Show.

Dogs and their owners will be dressing up and competing in fun categories at the Kiwanis Club of Ramona’s 16th Annual BowWow PowWow Dog Show. The categories include Best Costume (adult’s dog), Best Costume (child’s dog), Most Beautiful (female), Most Handsome (male), Dog and Owner Look Alike, Dog and Child Look Alike, Most Talented, Best Tail Wagger, Cutest Little Dog, Best Kisser, Senior Dog, and People’s Choice. Three judges will choose which dogs/handlers receive the prize ribbons.

Apart from the entertaining competition, there will also be a raffle and silent auction. Dog houses made by Montecito High School construction students and a dog package from Kritter camp are a couple of the items that will be available for silent auction bidding. The dog package includes a choice of two weeks at Kritter Kamp’s boarding facility or one week for two dogs.

The event will take place at the Ramona Fairgrounds located off Fifth Street and Aqua Lane from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, September 14. Food and refreshments such as hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and root beer floats will be available.

Admission is $5, with free admission for children 12 and younger, handlers and their dogs. The registration entry fee is $20 for up to five contest categories. Registration begins at 10 am, or you can register online at ramonakiwanis.org.

Event proceeds will go to Ramona Kiwanis Foundation Community Services benefiting student scholarships, Guy B. Woodward Museum, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3783, Ramona Senior Center, Ramona Skatepark Champions, and other youth, military, and community projects.
