Clubhouse Slope Set for Stunning Summer Transformation
A hillside between the clubhouse parking lot and practice range is being transformed into a beautiful, sustainable native landscape through the Landscape Department’s third approved turf reduction project.
The Landscape Department has received approval for its third turf reduction project, continuing its efforts to improve both the beauty and sustainability throughout SDCE. This newest project will focus on approximately 2,200 square feet of sloped terrain located between the clubhouse parking lot and the practice range.
For many years, the hillside has been considered both an eyesore and a difficult area to maintain safely. Due to the steep slope and challenging conditions, routine upkeep has been hazardous for staff and has offered little visual appeal to members and guests passing through the area.
The redesigned space will feature a natural, low-maintenance landscape inspired by the local environment. Plans include decorative boulders, a dry wash or creek bed, and natural tree stumps to create texture and visual interest throughout the hillside. A variety of native trees, shrubs, and ground cover will also be planted to stabilize the slope and provide year-round color and beauty.
The design and construction process will be completed in-house by the talented Landscape crew. Their creativity, experience, and hands-on approach will help transform the once-problematic area into a unique and welcoming feature of the property.
Construction is expected to continue throughout the summer, with completion anticipated by the end of the season. Once finished, the new landscape will provide an attractive and environmentally friendly improvement that everyone can enjoy for years to come.
