Ramona Comes Together for Earth Day
Ramona hosts two events celebrating Earth Day and encourages residents to learn more about how they can care for the planet.
Earth Day, first celebrated in 1970, began as a nationwide effort to raise awareness about environmental protection and has since grown into a global movement inspiring communities to care for the planet. In Ramona, where natural beauty and open spaces are a vital part of daily life, Earth Day serves as an important reminder of the role residents play in preserving local parks, wildlife habitats, and clean air for future generations.
Residents of the San Diego Country Estates and surrounding communities are invited to celebrate sustainability at the 5th Annual Ramona Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Begent Ranch. Hosted by Sustainable Ramona, the family-friendly event will feature more than 35 exhibitors offering information on topics such as water conservation, wildlife preservation, recycling, native plants, and climate action. Attendees can also hear from guest speakers, including recycling expert Bob Hill of EDCO and sustainability educator Dr. Mandy Morrell, who will share practical insights on reducing waste and addressing environmental challenges.
The festival offers something for all ages, with a popular kids’ sustainable treasure hunt, hands-on activities, and a nature-themed game designed by a local family. Live entertainment throughout the day will include performances by local bands, folklórico dancers, and a Tai Chi group, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Food will be available for purchase, and admission is a suggested $10 donation for adults, while children attend free. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, as the ranch setting includes uneven terrain.
Local SDCE resident and Realtor with Bernd Brokerage, Laura R. Munson is bringing the community together by hosting a tree planting event on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dos Picos County Park in partnership with park rangers. The event invites families, neighbors, and volunteers to roll up their sleeves and make a lasting environmental impact while enjoying free refreshments and giveaways. By participating, residents not only help beautify Ramona but also contribute to cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and a stronger sense of community pride making it easy for everyone to get involved, connect with neighbors, and celebrate Earth Day in a meaningful, hands-on way.
