Arturo Hererra: September’s Employee of the Month

Tiffany Pressler • September 17, 2025

Arturo Herrera, a dedicated member of the Landscape/Open Space team since 2001, is honored as September’s Employee of the Month for his skilled equipment operation, technology expertise, and commitment to keeping our community safe, beautiful, and welcoming.

Arturo Herrera joined the team on December 27, 2001. As a valued member of the Landscape/Open Space Department, he works in Landscape Maintenance and plays a key role in keeping our community beautiful, safe, and welcoming.

His lead, Landscape and Open Space Manager Nancy Zadrozny, says that Hererra is part of the four-person crew that focuses on the open space. As fire fuel has become a priority, there is a need for challenging work in limited-accessibility areas, along with the skills required to use all the SDCEA assets. Hererra has stepped up and learned the skills necessary to efficiently operate all our equipment, with an emphasis on the Min-Ex for Fire Fuel clearing work.

Herrera was selected for his increased proficiency as an equipment operator. He has gone above and beyond, excelling in technology skills, particularly in mapping out open space areas and identifying sites in need of maintenance. In addition, he consistently demonstrates excellent communication skills and has been a huge help in translating SDCEA documents into Spanish.

He loves working with his fellow SDCEA team members and says they have great camaraderie. When Herrera is not on the clock, he is a family man. He and his 10-year-old son have started doing 5K runs.

Residents and staff alike appreciate Herrera’s hard work and positive attitude. His efforts not only keep our open spaces thriving but also help create a place where everyone can enjoy nature and take pride in their surroundings.

Congratulations, Arturo Herrera, and thank you for your contributions to making our community shine.

Felicidades, Arturo Herrera, y gracias por tus contribuciones para hacer que nuestra comunidad brille.
